A little more Critter swimming from a couple days ago.
I'll have to take a GPS along next time and see how fast it goes. My only other amphibious ATV experience was a Scrambler test drive maybe 40 years ago. Since that day wanted something that would drive and swim so I picked up this Critter factory demo in '05. Thanks for the interest, I might just do a walk around video one day...

I called Hydrotraxx one time inquiring about their hydrolic machines , and asked them how fast their machines would swim in the water. The sales rep told me that the fastest water speed that they had seen on a gps was with the 25" inch rawhides, and with trailor fenders close over the tires. The sales rep told me that this channeled the water downward and caused the Hydrotraxx to lift slightly out of the water, but what really increased the water speed was the lack of water turbulance between the tires. Since the Little Critter has no middle wheels and fenders over each tire , I think this attributes to its fast water speed.

Here is a video taken back in February. racerone3 was using McCoy's place for his inaugural Bigfoot run and they were kind enough to let Jennifer and I tag along. The first half of the video was filmed while we were riding around the lower ground that is often under water (it's between two dams). It's hard to see in the video but the ground stays super soft. This is probably the most that I have gotten the Max IV stuck in one ride. In fact most of the video clips I had were of me stuck.
racerone3's Hustler Bigfoot performed well until he broke an axle. From there, he headed back to the truck and trailer while we continued to play in the woods for a few more minutes. That is where the second part of the video is filmed. I laid my Max II on its side and had a difficult time getting it headed back in the right direction. It is pretty comical.

MIKE I WAS VERY IMPRESSED BY HOW WELL YOUR MAXIV CLIMBED. A couple of times I thought you were going to flip over. I noticed that when you went down the grades with the brakes fully locked the machine slid right down to the bottom! (that is one steep grade) I was also impressed by the mudding performance of all the machines. Racerone3's Hustler seemed go through that thick mud effortlessly! Overall an impressive performance by all the machines.

Wow. Great video, Mike! Just how much do you trust that single roll bar on the Max II?Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.
(6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far

Great stuff Mike. I especially enjoyed Jennifer's commentary..."Oh darn!"
You and McCoy just aren't right when it comes to those ravines.
Looks like you guys had a great time. It's hard to believe you were able to do that in T-shirts in Feb....I mean, it's not California down there.
Thumbs-up for R13's hat.Banned
