The shot you're talking about is the same jump I submitted a picture of. It's the one where Mike is just floating in air at the top of the dune. Kudos to my son for getting it on video.

Goofing off with the RIM

Here's a short and pretty lame video of the RIM just crawling over some small rocks. I've been doing it a few times with the RIM and the 4-stroke Chief to see how the tires and wheels hold up to crawling up and over things that they usually don't have to crawl up and over. After the first 8 times, I said "Hey, I should totally film this...."

It's fun to get up on the rock with the center tire and spin around a little bit. It's super dry here (<1 inch of rain since Aug. 1), so I don't have any mud, water or even moist conditions to play around with.

I take advantage of any reason I may have to tackle some little obstacle with a six wheeler to shirk other duties.

Up next: The 4 stroke tackles the tomato section of the garden...

That Rim needs a roll cage.

Yeah, yeah... I know... All in time. I think the factory Max cages look the best on them, but I just haven't had the time to bend one up. I haven't done anything really stupid with it yet, but I'm going riding with Jeff soon, so mortal danger is imminent.

The engine does sound good; thanks... I've been lucky with it. I bought the machine in June and it had been sitting around for quite a while. I haven't done a thing to it. I didn't even need to clean the carb, or change a plug. I took them out once to look at them; they were fine; I put 'em back in. Yay Chap!

As much fun as the high speed stuff is, I need to supplement my diet with some low speed obstacle "see if I can climb that" sorta stuff.... It's a direct result of my Big Jeep days. Breaking a 35 spline Dana 60s gets expensive, real fast. Breaking a 1" axle is about 35 cents.

I'm sure Bridget could tackle anything similar and even more with her Max. As slow as possible, as fast as necessary.... repeat after me Bridget...






The RIM doesn't flex as nice as a 3/4 elliptical setup. All my flex is Rawhide III.

Damn that thing can flex! Too bad you never had a chance to test it out in Moab or even down at Tellico, TN. A few of my friends from Georgia took their rock crawlers there and from what I hear its pretty crazy.
And I have to ask you, how did you bust a 35 spline Dana 60?!!! Wait a second I have to remember who Im talking to here. And as far as the roll cage goes, There are some good inclines that I was going to take the BIGFOOT up and down but I just felt uneasy about going belly up with the huge bus like machine. Yes Whipper, it is cage time for all!

Thats an original 1970 Marc 12 Scrambler with my Daughter driving, My buddy's wife is driving the Hustler (with the 25"" rawhides) and Sean is trying his best to keep up in the ATTEX.
The Camera is a Twenty20 Helmet cam and the recorder is a Panasonic DV PV-GS250. The helmet cam is a lower end cam and you loose some quality but its seems to be bullet proof. Its been flooded and bounced and keeps working. The transition to youtube is very poor. Hydromikes video seems alot better. What is the best format to upload to Youtube? Is google or Aol better?
