That last one was cool. I didn't realize how small it was until I saw the guy in the middle. It has a speed of 15 knots on water and didn't even look like it sank down much at all when floating. Pretty neat.

My Argo came back to life this weekend. A lot of friends helped me with the build and I thank them for that. Thanks to all the 6x6world members that helped me too.
I didn't manage to build a springer, but I learned a lot and now have a great toy to play with. Getting my wheelchair in the back is my next goal.
Here is some video of my friend riding an Argo for the first time.

This is my first experience with an Argo and I wasn't sure I would like the two-stroke. It sounds pretty darn good to be honest with you. It's fun watching each new rider get the hang of driving. They're all smiles when they stop.

I was suprised at the speed, too. The Kohler 440 really purrs. Too much fun!
The audio picked up a resonating bass sound I didn't hear in person.

You guys are right, that machine flies, looks like a Ashtabula racer! Throw a seat belt and roll cage on it and put in on the track. Great job there Tinodesis.Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

Great video.......that thing is reeeeeeeally fast! Glad you got the old Argo going, you did a great job. The first time I ever saw an Argo with the two stroke Kohler twin in it was a 6x6 at the Humphrey, NY 6 wheeler Jamboree in 2001. It was racing in the barrel races and I was shocked at how fast it was. Seeing your 8x8 in action with the hum of that two stroke twin really reminds me of that day. Thanks for posting this."Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"

That's cool, congratulations! Looks and sounds great, so unusual to hear a 2 stroke, esp in an 8 wheeler. I've been thinking about putting my little lightweight runamuks back on to see how it goes..To Invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk. (Thomas Edison)

I was just looking through some of my old Youtube videos and realized that I never posted this one. My friend RPDBrady and I bought this "buggy" about 5 years ago. It was basically a Max II frame that someone cut the old ABS plastic tub off and put a 440 CCW 2 stroke in from a John Deere snowmobile. This machine was a rocketship......we used to do high speed flybys down the road with it and drivers on the street would give us the most weird looks. I remember a few occasions when we would pass little 4 cylinder cars going up the hill where my friend lived. We probably should have had a roll cage and seat belts.....oh well. I think we might have a few old videos of the flybys down the road, so if we come across them, I'll be sure to post them up.

Thanks for the kind words from everyone! I can see how you become addicted to these machines.
I have a Max I bought for parts, the T-20 actually, and after seeing jpswift's video I might get it running, too. Maybe not.
Ashtubula? I can see that happening some time.

I spent a couple days down at my friend's house in Richmond, VA (6x6World member RPDBrady) and we put together his 1996 Max IV that he recently bought off Craigslist with a lot of the drivetrain taken out by the previous owner. We got the 18HP Vanguard tuned up, rebuilt the T-20, ran a new throttle cable, new belt, all new chains, etc etc etc. 10 years ago we started rebuilding 6 wheelers and then he recently got this Max IV so we got right back at it. It had been about 4 years since we last rebuilt a Max IV, so after a little discussion with Mike and Don for a couple quick pointers to refresh our memories we got it going again. We took it in the James River in Richmond, VA and it swam great. It was very water tight too! This beast also climbs hills like a champ. More videos and pictures will be on the way. It feels great to have another AATV up and running again!
