  • which 6 or 8 to buy?

i am looking to buy either a 6 or 8 wheeler, just starting my research on this and would love some input

i need to haul 2 adults and about 200lbs of horse feed in thru the mud when my road washes out, so i am looking for a model that would have a small bed or flat area to haul things on the back or front, not sure if a 6 or 8 wheeler is more applicable here
i am going to need this about 10-12 times a year and maybe for a little bit of playing, cannot wait to show up all my nieghbors when their quads get stuck, my new quad got stuck last night and it is going bye, bye

i need a dependable model that it is possible to get parts for
hoping to find a used one in the range or 2000-3500 or so

any input on brands or models would be very appreciated
    thank you for your time

There is the Max Buffalo truck that has a huge dump bed on the back and would have plenty of room to haul stuff in. There is also the Max II that has a small compartment on the back, but not nearly as large as the Buffalo truck. I know that my good friends Whipper and Bridget live in Pheonix and they might be able to point you in the direction of a Max II. There arent nearly as many Max Buffalo trucks out there, especially down your way, so your best bet would probably be to go for a Max II. You can get a nice used one for $2500-$3000. I would go with a Max because parts are readily available (they're still manufactured in Buffalo, NY today and they offer true 6 wheel drive with bulletproof drivelines consisting of the Borg Warner T-20 non differential skid steer transmission and a 4 stroke V twin motor.) Hope this helps. PS- smart move on sending the quad bye bye, haha.

The first picture is a Max Buffalo truck, the second is a cargo rack on a Max II that Whipper fabricated and the third picture is one of my Max II 6 wheelers.

Beeman, the roll bar on my machine is foldable/removable and it actually is just a pivot point at the top of the poly body there. It really mounts right to the frame.

Courtney, these 6 wheelers are a blast! What kind did you have when you were a kid? You can actually use the "private message" feature on the forum to send an email to my friends down in AZ. They are members of the forum. If you want to send them a message on here the user name is Whipper-ag
They're extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I know how quads are inferior and also not very safe machines. I am always pulling them out when they get stuck in the mud bogs up my way. If you get a Max II with some 22" Goodyear Rawhide III tires and a Briggs or Kohler V-twin motor your rig will be unstoppble. Let us know how everything is coming along in the search.

              courtney,

The Buffalo Truck is great for hauling just about anything. While filling feeders I'll toss 15 50# bags of corn in the bed and then myself ( and hopefully a couple of helping hands ) will jump in with one riding up front and another riding in the bed on top of the corn.

jpswift1 is right in that there aren't may Buffalo Trucks out there so finding a used one takes considerable patience ( I've only noticed two on route6x6's classifieds in the past year ) and new Buffalos are a bit pricey..

              Good luck with your search.
              chris

You could find a Max II for the $2500-$3000 but will have a hard time finding a Buffalo. if you get one the newer the better or at least from the standpoint of heavier axles and frame.

                  Why not an Argo

It seems you guys are pro max and I just want to know why

Aside from the Max being made in the USA the Argo is still a North American product and parts should be readily available.

If you only need 2 people the 6x6 Argo holds 4 and the back can easily be used for cargo. The 8x8 Argo holds allot of weight. The front engine allows easy access to the cargo. I do not really see the advantages to a Max maybe these guys can shed some light to why?

Does the Max Cost less in the US then in Canada ?
Why do we waste tax money on bridges and roads when we can all just drive AATVs
