You're right countrycummins, how sweet would it have been to be there to crush their egos even more by cruising right past them in our AATVs? These people can dump tens of thousands of dollars in their machines, but they'll never learn, nor will they ever make their vehicle a REAL ATV.

But in the end our 6x6's are getting the short end of the stick. Wisconsin is one of them, and I am 1 of the victims. You see, when the 6x6's originally came out (Back in the 50-60's?) they were the pioneers of "ATV's" and were named as such. Since then, the 3-wheelers came (AND WENT!) then the quads, and now what they are calling the UTV. With all of them stepping on our reputation for conquering ALL TERRAIN, some states have reclassified/named our 6x6's as "Amphibious" ATV's. (AATV) And in doing that changed the requirements to meet plain ATV (Which is what we started as) specs for riding on public/state land. (BOHICA!) Now the state (Wisconsin) is revamping the rules again to include the UTV's But still won't allow the "Original" ATV's. What really stinks is that our 6x6's meet all the requirements EXCEPT that they don't have a steering wheel or seat belts. Seat belts can easily be added, but the regs SPECIFFICALLY state "Steering wheel". The whole fiasco of rules is in a pilot program right now, so I don't believe anything is actually cast in stone YET. When I get back from deer hunting, I plan to make some calls, (And probably send off some letters) and see if I can get these people setting up the program to understand that our 6x6's ARE AND HAVE BEEN the safest of all off terrain vehicles designed and build since the 50-60's. Why are they neglecting to include us in the activities that were created by the very vehicles we still use today?

How about adding one of those children steering wheels with the squeaky horn in the center (think Maggie Simpson) I would consider that part of the legislation complied with.

micmac you took the words right out of my mouth I was also going to suggest a toy steering wheel. my max has seatbelts and besides (I'm not sure about wisconsin law) but in ny state if a automobile is a certain age(not sure how old) it doesn't need seatbelts to be on the road and you can't get a ticket for it.

seatbelt laws were introduced in 1959 and all auto mfgs had 5 yrs to conform ,so anything before 1964 did not have to have seatbelts
