  • Lost a front tire but still drove with track on

Hey everyone, just thought I would post about our last ride.... My buddy had a front axle break off, he was just putting down the trail and I was following, when all of a sudden..... POOF there is a tire laying in front of me !! We check out the situation, decide to just drive off the track and haul everything home to fix later. Sounds easy enough, should be no problem to drive out of the tracks with a whole tire and rim missing ! Right ?

Well I'm here to say " it ain't" after doing donuts on the trail, both slow and at wide open, that track was not going anywhere !!! So plan "B". Drive it that way. Well we were about 10 miles from home and darned if he didn't make it. That track WOULD NOT come off.

Check out the video, I was laughing just watching it.

That is funny. The tracks look more like the angled tracks you find on tanks. At least you guys made it home ok.

I think it looks like a ski rescue vehicle. Just like a timex....takes a licking and keep on ticking

Glad you guys were able to make it safely home. Great video and thanks for sharing.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

        LOL, Very interesting.
We had a Consultant on one of our sites a while back, he had rented an Argo to get himself and a few others around in the bush. I noticed that he had a flat front tire, and mentioned that I could fill it up for him, before he drove out of the track on that side.
He said that it had been flat for the last week, and never came off yet.
I was shocked, I run the older plastic tracks and just have to look at them the wrong way and the Argo will try to spit one out. Tire prssure seems to play the biggest part in keeping tracks on for me.
I'm looking forward to trying the rubber tracks on my latest purchase, hope they work as well for me as your buddies are for him.

Yeah, the only time we have track spitting issues is in the pure clay, the really gray colored stuff and only when it is about 50% wet. Just the right thickness (not too thick or too thin) and it works like pure grease, the track will come off and not even make a sound, usually it takes you a few seconds to realize that your track is behind you !! Other than that they are pretty bulletproof.

awesome video lol, i had a flat on the rear of a '92 magnum with supertracks half an hour into noticing the flat the left side output shaft in the trans grenaded!! 3 hour trip to get her home with our 6x4 gator pulling it was not fun, trans kept locking up both sides every 5 mins!
