in most situations you will need to get out of the Argo and walk ten feet drill a hole in the ice to anchor a wench and pull your self onto the ice

I've fallen through ice a couple times (River and Lake), and both time it was a PITA to get the Argo back up. Used a similar technique to what trebmaster mentioned.
My advise......Try not to fall through

I also have a 27HP Kawi (Brand New in the box), I plan to drop that in one of my Conquests this winter.

Do you run tracks or tires? and if tires did you ever think about a couple of atv chains on the front tires and possibly middle tires as well. I saw that a couple of ppl on here use them so I tried it out on my pond this past weekend with just chains on the front tires (I only have 1 set right now) and I purposely broke through and the chains made a lot of difference they pulled me right back onto the good ice. The ice was only about 3-4 inches thick but those chains grabbed it like I have a machine with studded tracks, I plan on buying a second set of chains for the middle axles because with 21 inch tires I have plenty of clearance to run them in the middle as well.

If I want to take the Argo out in the winter, I pretty much need to have my tracks on. Too much snow to run without. Good idea with the chains, I've heard similar things about them for plowing snow, works good, as long as you don't get too deep in the fluffy white stuff.
