We had a decent thaw in western NY this weekend with temps in the mid 50s. Just enough snow melted to take the RIM out for a cruise down in/around the creek to test her icebreaking capabilities. I spent several attempts (okay, dozens and dozens) to get a good travelling 360 out of her, but she's just too heavy, (& looooong) and I can't get up enough momentum to carry the whole thing through. On the ice, it's a different story, but I need it in powder. Now the lake effect snow machine has kicked back up and we're getting about 1/2" /hour. This is the first winter I've had the RIM, (and the 4-stroke Chief) and I've decided that everything needs tracks.

Well....had a really long ride on Saturday with no problems, woohoo! I did get my Jeep Cherokee stuck on a culvert with the front tire hanging off when I was leaving the duck lease, and a guy in a new 700 EFI Polaris Ranger pulled up behind me a hooked the winch onto my trailer axle, and winched the trailer, Hustler and Cherokee out like it was nothing. I was pretty impressed.

Tomorrow morning, I am going out by myself, so it should be fun. This weekend will be spent at a buddy's lakehouse with four Quads and the Hustler trail riding at night, hunting during the day....it will be a good opportunity to see 6x6 vs. Quad.
        Hammers should have warning labels.

Lately, all I have been doing is working on 3 different 6x6's and posting up stuff on the forums, but I finally got some riding in today. I went to my usual spot down the street from me. It is a nice riding area that consists of a stream, pond, some short trails, and a huge open field. There are hundreds of acres to ride and as I mentioned, a nice variety of terrain. I tried to go and get my Max II stuck, but no luck. We got a lot of rain and temperatures were up so all of the snow melted. This made the stream very flooded and fast flowing. I took my Max up and down the stream and it went effortlessly. Then I went all the way to the end of the stream where it was all clogged up with mud, wet leaves, sticks, and anything else that got washed downstream. This mucky stuff was about 3 feet deep and the area was about 75 feet long. I gave my Max some throttle and it swam right through everything without any issues. This is the spot that all the 4 wheeler guys try and get through and always get stuck real bad. I also broke all of the ice that was on the mud bogs on the trails and paddled right through them. I love 6 wheelers and Goodyear Rawhide III tires!

I think Im going to try my Hustler BIGFOOT in the same spot later this week. I'll be sure to report back and possibly include some video footage if I can get someone to operate the camera.

Well, I just got back from Lake Sam Rayburn, from 3 days of hunting, drinking, splitting wood and trail riding. It was COLD by Texas standards. As far as riding the Hustler goes, it was not the best terrain, the property they have backs up to the national forest, so there are many miles of trails to ride, however, since Hurricane Rita there are downed trees everywhere and the ride is rather bumpy with few mudding opportunities....but I did get to work on my log crossing technique. No mechanical problems...woohoo!, but with all of the tight turning, my chain tensioners did seem to come loose rapidly.

The high point of Hustler riding was using it to snake some rather large downed trees to the log splitter. Everyone was impressed (me included) that it would drag just about anything you hooked it up to.

We saw some otters playing in the lake, didn't even know we had those in Texas???
