  • Trolling Motor ???

I'm looking at buying a trolling motor for occassional use on my Argo 6x6. I have searched but need more info / input. The argo has 4 ply mud tires on it so they don't swim but meet all my other needs (ie. sharp rocks, stumps, etc). I have many smaller ponds around my cabin I would like float around and fish..... and I'm thinking a trolling motor would do the job? I also thought about just using some oars... but if I can get away with a little motor... means less work for me!

    Any experinces, thoughts or suggestions?

    Thanks

I have a long shaft 50 lb thrust Minn Kota that works very well.

Thanks Bud. Do you have a 6 or 8? I'm wondering if a 36 or 38 lb will get the job done on my 6?

Also.... I assume long shaft refers to 36"..... and the 30" will not be long enough?

also it is easer to pull the argo threw the water then push it so hook the trolling motor to the front of the unit and turn the controls around

I originally used the trolling motor on my Max II 6x6, but now use it on the 8x8 Argo. 55 lb thrust will push/pull them both at around 4 mph or so.

The shorter shaft did not reach low enough on the Max; I got the 42".
