  • 6x6 Floatability

Anyone know how to make a 6x6 (argo or max) more floatable? My buddy and I want to buy a used 6x6 to take across a creek that's about 35 yards wide. Sometimes it gets a little fast and feel the 6x6 may not be able to handle it when the creek is high. Was wondering if there is a way to modify it to make it more stable?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I did see a guy put 25" on a max but it still looked a little wobbly in standing water.

    Thanx!

I have seen people online make pontoons that mount on the sides and fold up on the roof of the roll cage when not used. Also dual wheel kits might help but that is hard on the axles. They look wobbly but I think it would take a lot to actually turn one over. The main thing about moving water is you need to be able to move faster then the water. So if it gets to quick you might not be able to move upstream at all.

I have learned that a fast moving creek can make it tough. I recently added 26" tires to my Max IV and that helps alot over the stock 21". For deeper water, I use a swing-mount trolling motor on the front to help pull it along. When first getting in the water, it will seem unstable, but in reality it isn't.

Thanx guys. Just found J-Wheelz on line. I think they will do the trick. I really need my machine to swim. Just bought an Argo Bigfoot from the classifieds here on 6x6 world. Needs a little tune up but I am excited to get her in the woods.

This is a great site. I am learning alot! Hopefully I can contribute in the near future.
