It would have been cool if it was used as a moon buggy. That would have been a larger contribution from Canada. I consider the moon landing to be man's greatest accomplishment.Well next to creating an AATV

What they listed as an amphicat in CC and Co. was an Attex.

Larry, I wonder how those little machines held up to that kind of abuse. They must have either built them really well or they were totally beat to heck after running them through the proving grounds.

Those Jigers took a beating. They actually had mechanical issues with the engines before the body ever gave out or even took on water. The motors took a really high Oil to gas mix that few paid enough attention too (16:1). The soft balloon tires cushioned the hardest falls and the roundish egg shape what incredible strong. Later conversions from the hard to get balloon tires to what you commonly see now did a number on the axle, hubs and were the body meets the axle. Those soft 1 P.S.I. balloon tires was its saving grace.

That's too bad that it is getting demolished. Anyways, back to the topic of 6 wheelers in the movies. On Craigslist there was a Hustler for sale out in Los Angeles (for many months....I guess nobody would buy it). This was the link to it, but I don't believe it is still listed.

It had a blue bottom with a silver top......the ad said that it was used in some movie production. Does anyone recall if they may have ever seen it?

I remember the ad, and I know I'd remember the thing if I ever saw it in the movies. It was quite...well, flamboyant. I'd still have bought the thing if it were only 3000 miles closer.

Sorry for reviving a five year-old thread, but I'm pretty sure that I spotted a Beaver while watching "You Only Live Twice" during a current "Bond-A-Thon" on the Reelz network.

It was/is an overhead shot of the vehicle, and it's in the part of the movie where Bond gets inside the crater (under the metal "lake") and is looking down at Blofeld's whole launch operation; the shot represents Bond's perspective. The vehicle is only visible for a second or two, but it's red and sure looked like a Beaver to me -- I thought it was a Penguin at first, because there's two guys in it and it's very small, but I could see enough of the front of it to see that it didn't have four visible front wheels - like the Penguin does.

I DVR'd the movie and I'm going to go back and check it later today, but I'm pretty sure I'm right. Check it out!

I went back and watched that portion of the movie and what I'm seeing is not a Beaver - or a Penguin - but it's yellow (not red like I originally posted -- although I could have sworn I saw a red one) and it does look a little like a Penguin. Only has one headlight and it's definitely not a Beaver.

If you watch the movie, when Bond first gets down in the crater & they're prepping the rocket for launch, they announce "astronauts to dressing room." right after the three guys jog up to and get on the monorail, the little Penguin-looking vehicle is shown. Two guys are riding on it, rather than in it.

What the heck is that thing? Is it a modified Penguin?
