2500 lb,quadtrax winch....i was too rough with it and i broke it...is there any sense in trying to fix it.had it apart and some pieces fell out, small spring,snapring,etc....also,if i bought a new winch can i just mount it on my old bracket and just put the same wires that are on the front on it...use my old remote and wiring,etc....thanks......it may be cheaper to fix my old one?????

I just went through this too. Ordered a replacement motor, thinking to save some bucks, but it didn't match up. Full returns so only time lost. Decided to replace the whole thing and upgraded to 4500lb w/ synthetic rope and a remote. I had to mod the mounting plate that the winch bolts to which then bolts to the bracket, and switch out some of the wires (to heavier gauge) and solenoid, but used the same toggle switch that was already installed. Piece of mind knowing that all the parts are new and not (as) likely to fail vs. swapped out motor w/other old parts... the new winch was 3x the replacement motor but still under $250US.
