  • Best swimming aatv

I've got a cousin who's been hunting with me this year out of my max2. He's got his mind made up he wonts an aatv but he wonts the fastest swimmer. Is any one machine faster on the water than the others.

It depends on the machine, but mostly the tires.

      It's all in the tires.

Either a 6x6 Argo Frontier 650, or new 650 HD with the upgraded 25x12x9 argo swimmer tires is super fast for an AATV. They are the fastest machine and tire combinations I have ever driven in the water and the larger tires make them float really high also. Ive never taken the time to try the new 25" Argo Tires on an older 6x6 Vanguard ll or BigFoot, but that might be even faster.

          hope this helps

At one time, the Max IV or the Buffalo Truck w/ 26" Terra-Grips was supposed to be water king (based on tire propulsion alone) but that has likely changed with the introduction of Argo's new(er) tire design. I suggest trying out a few machines that have different engine/tire combo set-ups and see what works best; maybe attend an amphib event, and bring your cousin along. You'll both have a blast and get lots of exposure to various rigs.

I was thinking the argo may be a little heavier than the max and that might contribute in water speed.

lighter is usually faster, (or actually more important is how high in the water the tires sit), but also inner fender shape and approach angle of front of the tub are critical in water performance...

Ok so same tires on the Argo and the max which will move quicker in the water?

Having no experience with either I would assume the argo only due to it being nose heavy thereby lifting the rear tires out of the water more allowing for better propulsion.

                      Hydratrek is fastest swimmer

The twin 11" bronze propellers allow you to move up 4.5 mph in the water. We have performed side x side comparisons with Argo and Max ATV

The Super Swamp Fox is right up there too. They swim like a fish.

I agree with that statement! I watched a video of Matt's son in his Super Swamp Fox that had Terra tires on it ,and this little guy swam circles around every other amphib in the lake that day. Even the Frontiers with their fast swimming tires too! With a wide lower tub this allow the Super Swamp Fox to float higher out of the water than any Argo or Max. With Terra tires and a really light driver a Super Smamp Fox is really fast in the water.

I think the Super Swamp Fox is the fastest swimmer out there (with or without tracks), of course a machine with prop drive will go even faster. My Swamp Fox has scared me several times with its speed. I think that tires or tracks make the biggest difference, followed by horsepower, water displacement/how the machine sits in the water, then driver skill.

Don't know anything about Argos, but Philipatmaxfour's yellow Argo is one of the fastest amphib I've EVER seen in water. I've seen it in person, & on video posted on the site.
