    CBass, thanks for posting that video. I moved the post out to a thread of its own since it's more tech related. I'm sure this will help someone down the road. I've used the same technique and even with a cheap $99 Harbor Freight press, I've had good results. Some people haven't had much luck reusing bent axles but I am still running one that I fixed this way in my Max II from two years ago.

      I do agree, we fixed four of my bent axles that day. CBass does have several ways to save a dollar, to keep the machines running safely and smoothly!

              Gee, that shop looks strangely familiar. It reminds me of the base auto shop not far from the main PX at Ft Stewart.

              Anyhoo, I've straightened my share of shafts (and rifle barrels) the same way. ( with some of that Harbor Freight level equipment too)

              I would just add to make the straightening action a little bit stronger and last longer after the repair in many cases- get a HF glass beader, fill it with shot and peen the shaft to put some "good" stress back in it. It will make a difference.
