how big of a difference does adding a trolling motor make on a 6x6? small outboard?

I use a 40 lb thrust minn kota mounted on the front of my MaxIV. I use a separate battery on the floor to power it. Yes, it does help alot and much quieter on the lake than wheel propulsion.

While I've never tried the trolling motor on my Max II, the guy I bought it from had a mount bolted on the winch mount for one. He plugged it into the power plug in the dash. He told me if I was serious about using the max in water, I'd use one. I have a trolling motor but never tried it. Based on my limited water experiences tho, a trolling motor has got to help.

Trolling motor is a great addition. Just be aware of power management if using only one battery. Beats WOT operation for water propulsion.

can you mount a trolling motor to the back of the 6x6?? i have an argo bigfoot and it looks like there is a spot for mounting outboards. i also know argo makes a outboard bracket. is this adter market mount from ardo necessary?

My friend Bruce has a 2000 Argo Bigfoot , he bolted a 2x4 across the back hand rails and mounted a home made outboard motor mount to that Works very well and not in the way went not in use... I will try to get a photo the next time I can and post it here ... He has used it for both hunting/fishing .

I don't know I only use it instead of wheel propulsion. As SlimChance posted earlier,much quieter on the lake. The trolling motor alone is slower than full throttle with rawhide III's.However,have not GPS'ed top speed for either mode.

Don't know about a trolling motor but i do use a 9.9 Mariner 4-stroke outboard motor. A 5hp long shaft would do just as well as the 9.9 you can only go so fast with the outboard.

Id say if I had to estimate, it is slightly faster than just wheels. It'd be something like

Wheels only -3mph
Trolling only -4mph
Both -5-6mph.

hey derek, is that trolling motor mount factory from argo or did you make that? what would happen if i just clamped the motor on the back of the argo with out any mods?

I use a 9.9 merc most of the time,have used a twenty hp it moved quite well I was surprised,that said Iam using a custom built kicker plate and can get the prop in deep below the tub bottom,but as Lewis said you can only go so fast its got the hydro dynamics of a Kelvinator in the water.NCT

Bigfoot mobile, You could definately just clamp it on there. Where I ride, its a creek with some deep spots and some shallow spots. I didn't want it to be 'fixed' in a spot, and then roll up on a log and get hung up. So I put a pivot on my mount. I also have that push hitch at the bottom, and I would recommend that so your propeller pushes on the metal frame, and not the plastic body.
