HI ,
Intro
Some people may find the info valuable ,it will at least prevent u from having to pull axles etc to change gear reduction ratio
Machine swamp fox [mid to heavy weight ]
trans t20 output sprockets std 15 teeth
axle sprocket 32 teeth
engine Bandalero max rpm 5500
clutch setup 1850 enguagement speed
drive 780
secondary 770 [770 low speed 780 mid and 790 high speed ]
secondary ramps 28 degrees with 6x black slippers
secondary spring red
Gear changing
Tried 770 secondary 41degree ramps very fast acceleration [machine came with this set up ] not enough down shift
Changed to late model secondary 770 type with 28 degree ramps and red spring
Far better gear changing [slower and more focused on down change ]
Over all final reduction ratio
Eg T20 sprockets and opposing axle sprockets
MAX-4 ratio is a 780 drive 780 driven with a 34 tooth sprocket on the axle
I used a 770 with a 32 tooth axle sprocket [good all round performance ]
hard and medium pack beach sand was no effort
some effort on soft sand
I used a 28 tooth axle sprocket previously
engine loaded under medium beach sand and to much engine load in soft sand
Top speed comparison
argo 6x6 argo in high range
32 tooth sprocket swamp fox was about 3miles an hour faster [eg slightly pulling away ]
28 toth sprocket swamp fox was about 6-7 mph faster than argo [pulling away from argo was evidently more than a small amount ]
NB
The bando engine is the same --except no forged pistons
The engine has shaved heads to increase compression over stock
Out put 25hp [bando engine 28 hp ]
The hp or more relevant the torque capacity of the 770,780 790 series clutch units is at absolute maximum .using a bando engine.
Max do use the 700 series clutches on the 23hp kohler
Without getting to techee the clamping force is the concern on the drive unit ,this is rectified by going to the 1190 series clutch setups which offer higher rating for torque /hp
The relevance to this in regards to clutches is if u gear the 6x6 to tall [high speed] it will place even more load on belt .In this application high hp, heavy buggy ,heavy physical load [sand]. Some belt slippage was present with the taller gearing on the sswamp fox .
Remember that the bando engine revs to 5500rpm a stock engines revs to 3600-4000 so a stock engine will have a slower top speed
super swamp fox runs 26 inch tall tyres
