First real ride I've been on since I've owned it, other than fooling around in an adjacent field. Took the Hustler out to the woods at a buddy's place where he has creek bottoms and ATV trails.
It's been raining for 2-3 days here in So IL, so took it out between rain storms. Creek wasn't up too much yet, so got to play in the local creek a bit, forded a couple of crossings-no problem.
Driving through the woods following the main creek, and came to a side creek that runs water from a cornfield into the main creek. Maybe 6ft deep by 10-15ft across at the top narrowing to maybe 2ft at the bottom. I kinda eased up to it to look it over and figure my best angle of attack. Heres where I screwed up, I put it in NEUTRAL as I rolled up to the edge. BAD mistake.
As we all know (and I wasnt even thinking about), there is NO braking with the T20 in neutral. So off the edge I went and nose first into the opposite bank!
I was kinda worried when I hit the bottom and sunk about a foot in fresh muck/silt that was just washed in from the cornfield.
Anyway I put it in reverse and tried to back out, and the back end immediatly swung sideways and I was now sitting left side sunk into about a foot or more of muck, at pretty steep angle, and the bank so slippery it was like ice.
I could move up and down the little gully about 10-15 ft before it was pushing so much muck that it stopped moving, but thats all I could do.
I was determined, and worked at it about 10 minutes before I gave up and a buddy threw me a rope, which I tieds around the hitch ball.
put it in reverse and hammered it as he pulled at a 90 degree angle. Worked perfectly, my ass end came around and the Hustler then, more or less, pulled itself backward up the creek bank.
I fpund out pretty quick-You CAN get these things stuck!
