  • Hustler Chain? Tsubaki RS50??

I wanted to order some chain for my machine. Is the Tsubaki RS50 the size i want?
Does anyone know the total length or at least a good guess for a hustler 900?
And any thoughts on the best chain breaker to get as well?

    Thanks

RS50 is the right size for your 900. My guess on the total length would be about 27 or 28 feet, but I haven't done it on a Hustler in a couple years. I've used an el-cheapo generic chain breaker for years, and have never had any problems aside from replacing the replaceable tips that usually come with the breaker.

Thanks found some for a pretty good deal on ebay, $29.99 for 10 feet. I'll get 40 and should have enough for spare parts? Maybe save some of my old chain too.

        What chain do I want?
        I know it's Tsubaki RS50.
But I see (TW) and RP

Any idea which one. eBay has them for about half what I can get it from Grainger for but I want to make sure I am ordering the right stuff???

Don't quote me on this, but all of the RS-50 (TW) chain I've seen has been labeled "Made in Taiwan" on the Tsubaki boxes. "RP" chain simply means "rivet pin", compared to a cotter-pinned (CP) roller chain. I think you can have RS-50 (TW) RP, which would mean a Taiwan-manufactured Tsubaki Rivet-Pinned chain.

Rivet-pin is what you're looking for. I can't attest to the difference in quality between the TW-chain and other areas of manufacture. I've had Tsubaki chain from India, Germany, and the U.S., all with pretty consistent quality.
