    What can I expect to pay??

    Good morning 6x6'ers,

    New member here and looking to buy my first 6x6. I have my eye on a couple different Hustlers out there, but I have no idea what a fair price is. I also know the details will impact the value, but I don't know details. So just a general question: Let's say a mid 80's 980 that is described as being in good shape (4 stroke, 18 horse), ready to ride....can anyone out there ballpark what a machine like this is worth?

    I think the best way to figure this out is to watch the market and see what others are selling for and what condition they are in. You can usually get a feel for value fairly quickly that way. I don't follow the Hustler sales very closely so I'm no help in guessing.

      If you are looking at what I think it has been at that price a while, not saying it's not worth that to some but just informing. If it is not thought machine then none of this may apply.
      Ask seller service questions, check it over and decide what you think it is worth. Most project machines that are driving machines average 1000, some less, some more depending on engines, tires,etc. .

        Thanks for the input guys. Yes, Jim, I will look closely and ask questions if/when I look at the machine. Fortunately I have a lot of time twisting wrenches so the mechanics of a machine are no problem. I just don't know what the market commands. It seems as though there is no consistency from what I can tell.

          A lot of this question depends on region, condition of machine, and as stated above. Those 980's are in demand by some so would generally fetch more than say a 900.

              Well, I bit the bullet. I'm now the proud owner of a new project machine (aka a bucket of bolts). I'll start a new thread because I have several questions....and will have more to follow.
