  • Couple ?'s

Well I found out lastnight the hard way that the hustler isnt water tight, sank it in the pond. I already drained the motor and flushed it out so there isnt any water left in it. My question is the T20, what fluid and what friction modifier is the best for reliability? And also whats the best silicone or whatever to use once I find my leak(s)?

    Hey Slow,

Sorry to hear about your Hustler. The T-20 uses one quart of Type F trans fluid with a couple of ounces of the GM anti-slip additive (available at most parts houses). As far as sealant around the flanges, Recreatives recommends the 3M strip caulk, otherwise known as Dum-Dum. Auto paint supply houses will carry this.

There is an excellent article on this site about replacing Max axle bearings. The sealing procedure in this article will be indentical to the one you need to follow.
    Hammers should have warning labels.

Thanks man, guess its about time to head to the parts store and buy a couple quarts, some additive and I can get the caulk from work. I just hope it didnt mess anything up in it.

You might want to open up your T-20 just to make sure all of the water is out completely so your drums don't get rust on them. While you're at it, replacing the two gaskets that go inbetween each T-20 case half. The gaskets are cheap and you can get them right from Recreatives.
