  • Hustler 980 tall tub

I have owned 3 Hustlers a long time ago. The first a fiberglass model with the Curtis Wright 2 cycle, an plastic body with the 40 horse 2 cycle and a plastic body 16 horse version.
I have never seen one of the 980s in person but it seems like I saw pictures of a tall tub model a few years ago with Adair tracks. Man that must be an tremendous mud machine.
Living here in Louisiana I have seen, driven or ridden in some unbelievable mud machines but I would love to try one of those out.
Sorry just bored from this lock down. But to let you know I hunted with a friend of mine in the 80's that had a marsh model Cushman Trackster. That machine was unbelievable.

Mike the 980 tall tub is a completely different riding experience compared to other Hustler models. I am just finishing up a 980 tall tub build and only have about an hour in the seat, but the taller tires make all the difference in the world in the mud. Like other models it has the center hump in the tub. It could really be a monster if the hump were eliminated.

Dirtdobber, did they make 2 different tall tubs? It seems I saw one with a huge amount of space above the tires.

I'm no expert, but I don't think so. Hustler made two 980 models, a short tub model and a tall tub.

I'm no expert either, but I've seen two models both taller than the 900/950 models. JPSwift has one of the less tall models and I think those were 980s as well.
Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.

          (6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far
