  • Will frontier tires fit fiberglass Hustler??

Hey all, I think I found the wheeler for me....for the second time. When I was young I fell in love with the jet drive hustler that popular mechanics tested. About 16-17 years ago I found one in an old farmers barn. I was young and no money(the money part hasn't changed)but had to have it. I went back 2 or 3 times just so I could look at it. I finally had the money. Went back and it was gone,I was crushed. You guy's that know me know that I've had plenty of neat machines since then but always wish I could have had that Hustler. Long story short,I just looked at the SAME hustler not 5 minutes from my house UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Both I and the machine lived in another county the first time I looked at it,what are the chances of that?? I'm pretty excited. Now my question, will the 24" frontier tires squeeze under a glass hustler? I know the plastic ones are pretty generous with tire room.

    Thanks Randy

Hey Randy, Hope you get that Hustler home soon! There are some folks that live near us that run the 24" Frontier tires on their Maxes and I'd imagine that they wouldn't mind letting you bolt them up on your Hustler to see if they fit.

Got into the hustler a little bit yesterday. It has the ccw in it and I can barely make out the word hustler on a sticker on the motor. Is there a tag or numbers somewhere I can look to get a model or serial #?
Shifter linkage is boogered up but all the jet drive stuff is there and looks in decent shape. I would really like to make a "daily driver" out of it reliability wise and put a 4 stroke in it. Should I figure on upgrading axles somehow or is this setup pretty reliable if gone through and redone? Really excited about doing this up nice.

                Thanks, Randy
