  • Looking at buying a Hustler, things to look for?

    Hi,

I've been reading up on AATVs for a while now. Finally one popped up that is in my price range.

I'm going to be looking at a Hustler in a few days.

He says it has a Kohler twin 2-stroke in it. Runs and drives.

What are some things to look for that are prone to failure on these?

Any reason to stay away from it?

    Asking price is 1500.

    Thanks!

Kgrant hustler is a great machine if the parking brake disk is on the center axle it's a 73' or older if the brake is on the T-20 then it's 74' or newer. see if the tub is clean (good cond.) look for cracks in the body, look for any leaks in the T-20--seals and plungers, spin the axles to check bearings, check sprockets for wear...let us know what you find....

Here is a picture of it. Only one I have. Still haven't looked at it.

Can anyone tell me anything about the machine from the picture?

        Thanks!

It looks to me like a Hustler 900 with 21" Goodyear Rawhides and a factory Hustler windshield. That side exit exhaust is a dead giveaway that it is indeed a 2 stroke model, most likely mid 70's. It looks pretty good!

            hustler

Nice looking machine. I think R.C. gets about $500 for the windshield. Try offering a grand. Good luck.

Well, the brake is on the center, so it's an older model. But it is very clean for its age. All the parts appear to be there. Got it to start, but wouldn't idle. But it has been sitting since October and it's -15 outside.

Going to pick it up tomorrow morning.

              Thanks for the help guys.

I'll post some more when I get her home!

Welcome aboard to the Hustler owner's club! You've got a great machine there and it'll sure be a lot of fun. Can't wait to see more pictures.
