My Hustler has an 18 hp Briggs and Stratton with a square side exhaust. Is this the original configuration? I've noticed others with a round exhaust. It has some homemade flashing around it to keep it from overheating the plastic.

Sounds like the same setup that my Hustler has. I'm pretty sure mine is in stock form. I really considered replacing the entire setup here recently but just cleaned it all up and sprayed a little fresh paint on it.1984 Hustler 980 and some other toys that won't even swim. -
The side exhaust on the Briggs I/C flat twins in the Hustler is a stock configuration. My 980 BIGFOOT came this way and so did every other one that I have seen."Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"
