Need advise / opinions on racer cage

I'm finishing up my frame on my Hustler racer and before I paint it I need to decide how to design the roll cage. I'm leaning to a cage attached to a band on the outside but I haven't committed yet. Here is what I'd like to know:

What are the pros and cons of inside VS outside the body cages?

For those that have made inside ones, what is the width / gauge steel that works best for the brackets that mount to the frame and body?

If I go with the metal band and outside the body cage I'm concerned about the strength of the body with flexing etc. I was thinking I would make a cross member from one side of the body to the other behind the seat. Also I would consider welding brackets similar to the inside cage on either side of the frame but with no bars attached just bolted to the body.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

My Hustler cage is mounted to the outside but is connected to the frame in 4 places. I have a square tube running across the front between the fuel tank and dash with 2 additional vertical tubes connecting the chassis. I have another square tube behind the front seat back with 2 additional vertical tubes connecting the chassis. The 2 tubes that cross the vehicle connect to the 2 side pieces that clamp the lip of the body using 6x6x6 x1/8" triangle plates. The triangle plates lay flat and sit between the plastic body halves where the foam gasket normally resides. I have photos on route 6x6. I have had the Hustler on its side twice with no problems. i will try to post the photos here when I have a chance.

I just reviewed the photos on route 6x6 and you dont see much. I will try to take some new photos.

That would be great Mark. In the mean time I'll see if I can find them on Route 6 x 6
