Hi to all,
Gotta a question about the E-Brake.
I've picked up a '78, (950 I think). Engine was gone, originally a kohler, I've got a John Deere K340-2FA snow mobile motor that I've gone through, and is sitting in place. I think '78 950 just cuz the e-brake, and rear seat. My tub top doesn't have any of the vent holes in it, and my exhaust was routed out through the top, right over the left tail light, through a factory fitting.
I've talked to Coosaridgerider, and Toyman a bit about parts they have, and that I'm in search of. Coosaridgerider might be a bit far away from me, but anything for a Hustler right???? And waiting for Toyman to get back to me.
Anyway, my question is about the T-20 mounted e-brake. Actually my question is about all the Hustler e-brakes. It seems that most folks disconnect them, or remove them. As I'm going through this thing, and as I repair/refurbishing parts, I've gotten to the e-brake, and though I only need a cable, and shoes, I have all of the rest of the parts. I've gotten a hold of Richard's and he has the cable, and maybe the shoes, but I've got to find out which kind I have, and which kind he has. (he's the only source I know of for these parts)
So my question is: Why is everyone removing/disconnecting the e-brakes?
Before I spend the money on these parts, might be good to know for priority purposes.
And thanks for this fine forum. I've learned a lot.
Oh, ya, I rebuild/refurbish a lot of 30 year old motorcycles (not dirt bikes) and I know that it would not be hard to adapt any 500cc or less, front wheel hydraulic bike brake system to a t-20. rotor, caliper, and actuator.
Thanks-
dennis
