Mysterious brackets on Hustler Frame???

Mysterious brackets on Hustler Frame???

Can anyone tell me what the two brackets are for on the back left and right side of the Hustler frame? One bracket is on the clutch side (left if facing the front from the rear) and the other looks like it is part of the original frame on the right side just slightly to the rear of the T-20. Thanks...

The one on the right side originally held the caliper for the parking brake. They didn't work very well in my experience. I think the other bracket must have been added by a previous owner.

Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.

(6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far
