  • location of serial number

Need to see if anyone knows where the original serial number was located on the hustler machines. Need to have a serial number to get an off road permit. Thanks.

Thanks Mike, That will help when I get it torn down. Is there any way to use the serial number to identify the year or other information.

Call Richard Clark, he may be able to ID it for you; he owns the rights and what's left of Hustler Corp.
        Here's the number: 812-944-1643
        1983 Hustler 945-HK 627cc Vanguard
1982 GMC K-10 Sierra Classic Suburban 6.2 Diesel
        2010 Chevy Silverado 1500
        1974 Honda ATC 70
1986 Honda ATC 250ES Big Red

There is no Z in Diesel!!

Check the thread out that Mike posted. In there you will see this post:

"You can find the serial number of the machine by taking the idler sprocket off that keeps tension on the chain coming off of the T-20 transmission that is on the right hand side of the machine. Look inside that channel where the idle sprocket rides and it will be stamped in there. It can be hard to see, so you might want to take a magnifying glass and rub a soap stone over the numbers to see them better."

The serial number may be in a different location though if the machine is a later model since the frames were different on the first poly body and fiberglass machines.
