  • ohc kohler engine in a Hustler

    I thought that I had read a post regarding the ohc kohler engines and thier fitment in the hustler 950's... I be danged I can't locate that post...I believe that it wouldn't fit, or that is what I think it said, but I do not remember the reasons as to why it wouldn't.... any help here?

    Hey Eddie, do you mean the Kohler K341 16HP engines? These were stock engines in Hustler 945 and 950 6x6s right before the Briggs flat twins were used.

      Jp, it would be the overhead cammed models . will try to post a pic of it.... I am putting it in my 950, and am , at the last minute remembering that post mentioned above. As I said, I can't seem to locate it.

        I don't know about the Kohler, but I know 6x6World member Boncrshr fit a 20HP OHV Honda V twin in his Hustler 950.

          I put one in my 950, but it was a very very tight fit, but doable.

            okay!! It's in...oil fill is under the mesh wire at the back, had to reverse the exhaust flow, ( flipped the muffler) incredibly close at the very rear of the motor, and as soon as I dropped the backseat/engine cover, I broke off the dipstick handle...but it's in and it runs like a champ....bit too slow for me, but perfect for double 'GB' (grubby garage boy) and the wife...she hasn't solo'd in it yet but she will. pics soon...making front bumper and winch mount today...then a little sleep and back to the night shift...
