  • Hustler 980 Chain Question

Hi mike, i'm lost on this site. But need to no some info on hustler 950 i think. I'm a queenslander in australia. Great photos you posted. I just want to get this thing out of the shed. The current issue is the chains, we have just cut new chains and trying to put them in have one in but it is tight, cut to the same length and as old one and am hoping it is not imperial and metric thingo that is the reason because we cut the second chain one link longer and it is way to loose for the tensioner to correct. How tight can we go. Took some joining together. Can you help. Finding it hard to get around this site. Maybe because it is im going like a bull at a gate. Thanks jane.

Hi Jane, you probably have the correct chain. If you lay the two chains side by side, the old one next to the new one you cut, you will notice that the new one is much shorter even though they have the same amount of links. Chain stretches over time as you use it so it is not uncommon for them to be tight when you first put them. But within the first hour or so of running the new chains, they will stretch and need to be adjusted again. So, put all the new chains on, go play for an hour or two and then readjust them again.
