How can the Stator get damaged like in the picture?

Im curious as to how the stator got bent as shown in the picture and how it could loose half the magnets? Its a very tight space where the stator is. Any ideas as to how something like this could happen?

Must be one of the magnets came loose and took the rest out and jammed on the stator. Bad news but I guess it could have been something worse. Maybe someone took the flywheel off before and used a hammer. Knocking one loose. It might not off been apparent if the magnet would stick to the flywheel.

These show up a lot on ebay, usually for decent Buy It Now prices....
Well I followed your advice. I purchase the stator for 15 bucks and just had the winning bid on the flywheel too for 5 bucks. Thank you for your help. RJ

I had one on a Vanguard that looked quite similar. In my case, a screwdriver bit had fallen behind the flywheel at some point in it's life and stuck between two of the magnets. No clue how long it ran like that, but one day it disloged it's self and destroyed the stator and most of the magnets

Well I realized that the only way Im gonna get this build clean is to do a total restoration. Taking those axles out was no piece of cake! Even had one that was seized at it's end in the inner bearing. I dont have a torch. I had to use a wiz wheel to cut through the bearing and one the retainers and then to finish cutting the bearing race just to get it to release. Ill be welding the incision I did with the wheel on part of the frame housing where the bearing bolts on and on the retainer that got cut in the process. I dont know how you guys work, hanging yourself downwards and into that tub. My back hurts from it. But I'll survive. At least now I can remove the frame and work on it while it sets on saw horses. Cleaning the tub will be a hell of a lot easier than trying to work around everything. Ive been taking pictures of the process and will post in a day or so. The previous owner never greased those outer bearings. I saw no signs of grease nor did they ever clean that machine. I know I will maintain the hell out of it. I dont want to ever have to do such a dirty job again!

I noticed that when viewing other 950's. There's plexiglass over the head lights. Is this a stock item? Mine came with it. It looked to be an add on by the previous owner.

                tire size

I have added the 5" spacers to my hustler. Whats the largest tires I can mount on my hustler now, but will still allow me to run it with tracks?

This concerns the back lid on my 950. The way its mounted where the hinge is. It looks as an after thought to have it sit above and not down in the body like it may have been formed to do. I see this on other 950's Is there a reason for this or is it an after thought/ error by the manufacturer?

THe hinge on my 980 is basically the same. I agree that it's a little odd looking, but I think they did intend for it to look that way.
