Great idea Zoood, Turtlecrawler… thanks for the info. I guess now i have to find a place that would resurface the pads. For a great price that is!

fmints I did mine. cost bout 20 bucks for the pads and round 6 for the adhesive. Glue em up. clamp em in a vise for the night. Wear a paper mask and shape the overhang of pads with a bench grinder.

Or spend about 40 bucks plus shipping and have a company do em. Most establishments us fed ex or ups to ship. So that will probably be an extra 18.00. it was very easy to do it myself.

Unless you plan on parking on the sides of hills alot, you don't need the parking brake. A 1' piece of 4x4 would work just as good.

As stonewall put it. Its just a parking brake and unless your parking on a incline you dont need it or use a 4x4 block of wood. But if you want to rebuild it. here's some info - McMaster-Carr I got the lining with the metal in it for high strength. You can get loctite epoxy, works good for bonding the brake pads to the metal plates. My hustler was complete. but in dire need of maintenance. I about rebuilt everything. I figured since it had all the required brake parts. I'd try and rebuild it.

Good point it is only a parking brake however there are alot of hills where I go hunting(ROCKY MOUNTAINS) and it is really nice to know that if the rig was to stall on a accent or decent it is nice to have a working backup.......

Depending on the design, (not sure if the hustlers are like attex? Does it come up when released?) I might be thinking more of an emergency brake rather then parking brake but... They can also come in handy when you are on a hill or something slightly tricky when you have to go from the sticks backwards on a stand still to a slow creep forward where you have the middle ground of nothing but dont want to go forward to much. You can hold the foot brake and slightly drag it even while engaging the sticks/throttle to the perfect engagement. Or even when you are switching from forward to reverse on an incline too.

If your model has the single disc on the trans use it as a parking brake as it only stops one side of the transmission. Things might get messy if you use it as an emergency brake going down hill.

I never actually thought of that, but very good point! The Attex Chief and Thunderchiefs had a disc brake on both sides of the T-20.......the single one on the Hustler would certainly make for a hairy situation on an emergency stop going down a hill.

                      • I never thought about that either. Bet that's a good reason I was wondering sometimes why my hustler wasn't moving correctly. Like it was dragging. I tend to forget I have the brake deployed. Its easy to forget to check, even with it relocated as mine is.
