Chinese honda knock off motor in a hustler?

Anyone ever install or know someone who installed a harbor freight 420cc predator into a hustler?

Hi whistlepig, I checked their site and that motor is only 13-14 hp. Overstock.com has a 16 hp. knock off for a few bucks more. Hustlers are fairly heavy and depending on your model I think I'd opt for a v-twin, 20 hp. minimum. Check out the bandelaro motors from some of the other members. Good Luck Mike

I use to be big into swapping vtwins into golf carts. Ive seen alot of people use the 16hp clones in them and they always seemed to like them. Personally I think you get what you pay for and I agree that 16hp is a little underpowered for what I do. I still feel that my old 18hp opposed motors are way underpowered.

I already have one in the garage. Was mostly interested in the fitment into the frame,body it seems a bit tight from rough measurements . Going to try to pull the k341 I am replacing tomorrow. Not really worried about power that much . If I cant live with it in the hustler 945hk will use it on a homemade bandsaw mill I made . thanks for your replies!!

Well,I have installed the chinese motor into my 945hk. So far the power is ok ,not that different from the 18hp briggs in my sidewinder. Had to fab a elevated engine mount , was abel to space engine same as stock to use same drive belt. The crank was one inch same as the k341.Happy with it for now !!

Sounds to me like you got that same result you would have had with a vangaurd or any other 16hp motor just for less money. Im glad your happy with it. You got any pictures? Im sure it will work fine.
