I am about to start a project to transform my Hustler 950 into a springer. Plans include a custom drivetrain, solo front seat, v-twin engine, and of course full suspension. I haven't seen any hustler springers out there, am I going to be the first? Anyway, I will try to keep the post up to date on progress and pictures. I plan to start to teardown the original machine in a few days.

Outstanding! Please keep us up dated on you progress.Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

hustler springer project
Quick update:
The Hustler has been completely torn down, frame stripped of all mounts, prepping for the new drivetrain. I am converting to a shaft drive system using polaris differentials and drive shafts, no chains whatsoever, and no longer using the t-20. I am working to finish the drivetrain while I accumulate parts for the suspension. I am also planning to change the steering from skid steer to a 4 wheel steering system (front and rear wheels steer, middle set are fixed).
The pic shows some of the parts that I am working with. A 50hp v twin engine, shocks from suzuki utility quads, driveshafts and diffs from polaris quads, automotive cv shaft and hub, and the stripped down Hustler frame.Attached FilesI don't want to go fast, I just want to go anywhere.

project update
Still gathering parts and moving forward with the springer project. The main drivetrain is in place, built one set of A-arms with axle shaft and wheel hub. Here are a few pics of the A-arm setup, and one pic of the rear diff with the shaft drive system.I don't want to go fast, I just want to go anywhere.

Cool!
EDIT: I fully read the post and saw you are going 4 wheel steering. Sounds interesting. Keep the updates coming.
Im not sure about the turning radius but if its not good then maybe you could do something so that when the wheel is fully turned one way or the other it also starts brake steering. I dont think it would be so hard on the diffs unless you are always turning all the way.
