HELP hustler wont turn

i went to look at a 80s 6x6 today with the t20 and 16hp kholer motor it drove fine until i tired to make a sharp right. then it more or less continued to go straight i wanted to know what the problem could be i talked him down to 1200 but i wanted to get a idea of what its gonna cost to fix before i decide to buy it or not. thanks

Sooo... When you tried to turn did you continue to PUSH forward on the left stick while pulling back on the right? Unlike Max aatvs, the Hustler has no springs attached to the laterals. Although the Max springs will apply enough pull to move one across fairly even ground, (or as in my very first experience, through the MIL's ornamental plum trees with no driver in the machine) one would still need to push the sticks forward to make a Max climb a steep hill, or bank. The Hustler has no springs and requires one to push the sticks forward to make it go. With both machines you would have to pull back on the sticks in reverse to make them back up. Now, I can't speak to how much this machine is worth, and with no more info than you have in your message, it will be hard for anyone to say what it would cost to fix, more info could help. The best thing you can do for yourself is read the atv buyers guide on this site to get a good idea of what to look for when you go back. Not that I'm trying to buy it, so just give an area for the answer to this question. Where are you, the machine and it's seller located. Is the machine, by chance, in Taylorville, Illinois?
