    max 950t belt

I was able to find a replacement belt for my max iv 950t. I wanted to have an extra in case of an emergency. There is a clip on the max iv to store a replacement. For anyone interested the size is 44 9/16 by 1 3/16. The belt # is hp3029 and cost 29.99 plus shipping about 36.00 total.Other compatable# are max1116 and gates 19t4440.I believe the hp (high performace) 3029 to be the best quality. This belt can easily be found searching the internet. It is the same belt that fits 91-93 low power polaris sleds. There is a number on the original belt 018039 which can olny be found through recreatives. If you look up recreatives 018039 you will see a cross reference number hp3029. I belive this imformation to be accurate and hope it helps other max950t owners. sparrotte

I would try to find the original recreatives number on the belt and then search recreatives followed by that number and hope for a cross reference. If this isn't possible try a sewing style tape measure to obtain the length. This could olso be used for the width, however if the belt is worn the width measurement may not be accurate. If this is the case call recreatives parts and they may give you the width even though you are not buying for them.

Forgot to mention if you have the length and width you should be able to find a replacement searching these measurements on the internet. Ther are tables to be found for these needs.

That is some good info, even for a Max dealer. It's good to be able to post this kind of info and not be censored. All Max belts are 1-3/16" wide but I don't know the lengths. I always like to order parts from Recreatives to help support them in a tough business. However, I draw the line when they charge $78 for a belt that should be $35.

Recreatives service is excellent whenever I need help, however they wanted over 80.00 dollars plus shipping.

You have to watch the belt compound. I am a snowmobiler as well as a 6-wheeler.....you can buy a cheap belt for either one, but when you have higher horsepower, you can expect to (and should) spend more on a belt with a better compound. I've spent well over $80 for belts for my sled. I don't mind spending $60 or $70 for my Max II belt. You get what you pay for, from my belt experiences at least. A cheap belt with a low grade compound may work fine for a bit, but in the long run, you'll be buying belts more. I choose to spend the money on a better one. Like other manufacturers, I would guess that the belts for the higher horsepower Max and Argo models are not the same compound as the lower horsepower models or low cost aftermarket belts.

The hp3029 is made by dayco the same brand that came with the machine.I'm not sure if the old belt on a 2004 950t was a good quality belt or not. A dealer did tell me that the new belt was stronger reinforced with kevlar. The belt I purchased the dayco hp3029 retails for about 65.oo dollars and uses aramid reinforced polychloroprene rubber compound and p-aramid cord. I believe kevlar (aramid) are one in the same not positive correct me if I'm wrong. Dayco may make a better belt for recreatives the same size as this not sure but very skeptical and a better rubber compound perhaps a hpx version again, skeptical. The belt can be acquired for around 30.00 dollars on sale even though it retails for much more.
