  • Max IV Winch mount

I am considering purchasing a winch mount from ATVcountry.com for $160. I have a 3000lb winch I am planning to put on the front. It is able to accommodate horizontal and vertical mount winches. Has anyone had any experience with quality, price, etc. of this brand? Is there anything else out there that may be better? Thanks for any info!

I have one of the CountryATV winch mounts on my MaxIV and it is far better than anything I have used before. I took the factory mount off before the nose was damaged due to the stress on the plastic body.
Yes, it will work with horizontal or vertical winches, but you will need to drill the bolt pattern for your winch into the plate. The best part is you don't have to remove the gas tank to install it.

    Hope that helps you,

Hello Slim Chance and Thank You for the great info! It was kind of a toss up between factory and the CountryATV one and you just made up my mind! Being a pretty new 6x6 owner belonging to this club is even better than I thought it would be!

      Thanks again,

        No problem jnrmoto,
That is what we are here for, to help each other out. CountryATV used my MaxIV to prototype these products on last year and they did a great job. Their rear cargo carrier is overbuilt to say the least and too heavy for my taste when using the Max on a lake as a fishing boat. But the rest of their stuff is first rate.

        Have a good one!

Hey Thanks russriders - I ordered the mount from Country ATV ---I'll take a close look at the bolts and make sure they are strong enough! Maybe even go with stainless if the situation warrants---

            Regards,

Update: Installed the Country ATV Winch mount - upgraded to 5/16 bolts through the upper mounts and 3/8 bolts through the body lip. Very nice mount and easy to install a front carrier for extra hauling capacity. Also I used the upper flanges to hold the bottom of the windshield I constructed. Very Pleased. Thanks for the tips!!

Care to share some pics of your new winch/mount? Have you had a chance to try it out to see how well it works?

The picts are easy---go to country atv.com---They have a video on installation that shows it very well. I am going to weld up a front carrier very similar to countryatv's this weekend---they show some good pics of their model also. Mine will have a mount for my ice auger. I have not tried out the winch/mount as of yet because of a few other issues with the wiring on the Max but am confident they will be solved soon. Farther back in the posts are some replies from others with the same mount---they are quite pleased with theirs.

This winch mount looks great. Does anyone know if it is compatable with the factory windshield? They both attach close to the same spot.

                      Hi Matt R.
yes, their mount will work with a factory windshield. Turn the upper body supports so the lips face out rather than in so they don't contact the factory glass frame.

Thanks! I've been nervous about the thought of pulling the front of the tub apart with the winch. This looks like a good solution.

                          Max IV Winch Mount

Here's a pic of country atv mount after installation. Still building the cargo rack that will bolt on the top of the winch frame. Home-built polycarbonate windshield and the soft top I just finished sewing up. I tried out the winch by lifting the front up from a tree and could see no flexing of any kind. Should work out very nicely!

You did a great job on that machine. Especially the canvas top. You should start a thread on how you fabricated the top. Awesome job.

Thanks Uncle Vin! I probably should have taken some pics along the way but I was so busy sewing, cutting fabric, and fitting all the pieces that I didn't give it much thought. It took about 3 days to make and materials cost around $100.00. The doors are sewn on at the back vertical seam and the top utilizes velcro and snaps to keep it in place. The doors roll back and there is a strap with velcro that keeps them rolled up. The top can be removed in about 30 seconds and installed in about a minute. The hardest part was learning how to sew! I have attached a couple more pics to show the rt door closed and left door open.
