  • chaperall g50b 486 cc 2stroke......good motor?

Is this a good option for my maxII mid 80s model paired up with a t20?

Do you have a roll cage and harness?

The G50B is a great engine depending on what you plan on doing with it. It will make a light machine like the Max II fly like a big bird. If you are looking for something to slog through mud trails for hours, you may want another engine.

Its a popular race engine and was used in the fastest aatvs ever factory produced. It loves to go fast but the trails need the low end grunt of a four stroke like a vanguard or kohler twin.

Not to mention they are like 11.5:1 or so compression and like to run on leaded racing fuel.

A lot of people get by with pump gas in the G50B (but I don't). It can be finicky on long slow pulls or low rpm slogs through the mud, and two-strokes are generally higher maintenance than four-strokes. If you're looking for high performance blasts around the woods, racing, or scaring the heck out of the neighbors, the Chap is the engine you want.

These guys are absolutely right and they know their stuff. They're steering you in the right direction. I too own a Superchief with a 484cc G50B and I wouldn't use it for trail riding. That's what my 4 strokes are for. For going fast, especially when the weather turns colder, you can't beat a high performance 2 stroke for ripping around at high speeds.

How loud are these things?.....standard 2 stroke noise.hoping to quiet it down for a while and use it for duck season because most of the places I hunt have big wide trails for sxs to get back so the quicker I get back there the better lol. I am already making plans on a mother build so if nothing else I will put it in that one

If you watch the video that was just put up on the Pine Lakes thread, you'll get an idea.

I don't think you'll be appreciated in the woods during hunting season.

Here's an "in car" perspective. My machine also runs with the G50B with the appropriate tuned pipe. I don't think it's any louder than the stock Attex muffler.
