MaxII gas tank mounting?

Ok I know it goes up front but how we're they originally mounted and what all needs to be done to this older tank to get it ready for fuel again? So what are all different options for mounting gas tank

From the factory they were mounted to the top.
When I modified/created the bigfoot, I decided to make an internal body band, and mount the tank to it. Now I can remove the top and still run it for trouble shooting purposes. [IMG][/IMG]

Like the buggyman said, your origional tank should have two pieces of angle iron welded to it. Those pieces of angle are bolted to the front of the top. My tank was so bad (1980), that I chose to get a new plastic tank from RI. That meant fabricating a mount for it. I like the buggyman's idea. Wish I new about it before I did mine.

buggy man that really is a really neat setup you got there. looks like it may be a little bit longer on my motor so it gives me time to spend more on some other little things i was wanting to do like this
