  • custom Max II bumper

Hey all, thought you would be interested in seeing this. I went to my buddies shop yesterday and had some fun doing some fabricating. We made a full front end brush guard and winch plate for my Max II. Its a little heavy, but no more than 75 lbs, so I think it should be alright. May way down the front a bit in the water, but I dont for see any main issues. VERY stout, The heaviest steel used was the main bumper, which was 3/16 angle, and the tube steel shown, I cant remember what gauge it was, but was extremely thin and light. The rear plate (behind body) is also 3/16 with a thin strip welded to go through the front body seam. To hold it all on, its drilled thru the bumper, thru the plastic, backing plate piece, and then another strip of steel underneath. Hope you all like it. I left it at his shop for him to finish, and probably wont have more pics until next sunday when I get back down there. There is still a ton of grinding to do and finishing here and there, but this is what I have so far

Looks like your buddy is into RC. I see a couple stadium trucks and an 8th scale buggy piled up. Does he race? My son Jason races a few tracks in IL, maybe he has attended some of the same races.

Oh yea he's big in to r/c. He has 11 cars and trucks, and then 4 race boats. I dont think he has attended any races yet, but I think he is planning on it in the spring. He built a race track in his back field to get everything dialed in so Its only a matter of time before he starts competing im sure

Hey sorry, I just came across this post and saw you responded. I really dont have much of a material list. I know the main part of the bumper is 3/16 angle, which we cut sections out of to bend to shape. I will say that it is easier to make yourself a template first so you have a guide to bend to. Plastic melts pretty quickly! Other than that, just use your imagination. We started with the bumper, mounts, and inner reinforcing plate, then just went from there
