  • Max II axle holes

I just recently purchased a max II and I jacked it up to tension the chains. I noticed several of the sprockets have a bushing welded to them to take the slop out of the bolt hole. When I turn the axle by hand I can see the axle turning slightly inside the sprocket. The holes in the axles are appereantly out of round. Is there a fix for this or do I need to buy new axles? I was thinking I could pull them and drill a new hole 90 degrees to the original hole. Would this weaken the axle too much?

A better idea might be to weld the original holes and redrill them. Also check to make sure the bolts are not worn. If I remember correctly new axles were $140-150 each new.

Are the holes supposed to be 3/8 or 1/2?

very early machines were 3/8".....most were 7/16"
If someone put 3/8" bolts in a 7/8" hole, it would be very sloppy. You will have the best luck with http://www.6x6world.com/forums/gener...ound-bolt.html
