  • No power at switch

Hey guys i was running the winch today to anchor my Max II down to the trailor and every thing quit working.I thought the battery went dead but after charging the battery still nothing.Checked the cables and all tight. You can run a hot wire from the winch control to the switch prong and it will start. Is there a fuse some where or do you think the switch went bad.The winch would only work when the lights were on before. Now the lights want come on.You can touch a ground wire to each of the prongs to the switch and there is no spark. Any thoughts? Thanks Crossbow.

There is usually a safety feature on a winch that requires a trigger wire to have power to the contactor switch when the key is on. It sounds like that green safety wire might have gotten hooked up to your headlight circuit instead of the ignition circuit. You have probably popped a fuse on your headlight circuit and just need to find it and replace it. Then trace the small green wire from the contactor and make sure it is tied into your key switch so it requires the key (to be turned on) instead if the headlights to be on, in order to run the winch...

Hope this helps, if not, just keep asking questions and someone here should be able to figure it out with you.
