I too would like to know more about the RIM
I found this on the Attex site
1974
ATV Manufacturing was sold to Ray McKay, Jack Gould, and Howard Gerber (Owner and designer of the "RIM" aatv) and was named They manufactured the machines at the Lawrenceville facility until 1976.Why do we waste tax money on bridges and roads when we can all just drive AATVs

The RIM story is a long and somewhat complicated story, but without going into (or fully knowing) all the accurate details, I can say that the RIM was engineered and designed by Howard Gerber (on his own, not under the direct auspices of RI) who was an engineer at RI during the 70s. From what I understand (HUGE grain of salt here...) the RIM essentially became intellectual property of RI, since it was developed while he was an employee there. I don't know exactly how RI came to own the production rights to the machine.
What I DO know, is that anyone who calls my RIM a MaxIV is very quickly corrected...
The RIM is really a work of engineering art and simplicity, which is why the design of the MaxIV has largely remained unchanged in 30+ years. I love my RIM, and it's really the favorite all-around machine in my little fleet.
