I am thinking about dropping. A 30hp brigs in my max11. Are there any mods that have to be done before this can be done. I don't want to race it. I just want the power there if I need it. My Max is a 1993.

Hello tattooman, what size motor do you have in your 93 Max II now. You may be able to rebuild and upgrade your current power plant to feed you need for power should you ever desire. I had a 93 also, with a 16hp briggs Vanguard. It was great, until my brother and I rebuilt a 18hp and dropped it in. Night and day difference!!! If you have a briggs now, there are lots of upgrades that can be had for a good price.
To answer your question, I dont think that it is much to change besides the engine mount and fabricating a new exhaust. You can probably get away with drilling new holes in the two metal mounts to accommodate for the big block briggs. I would diffinetly run true dual exhaust out the back like Cbasshttp://www.6x6world.com/gallery/max-...-the-rear.html. I'm sure if im wrong or if i missed something, others will chime in.HUSTLEMANIAC and a HONORARY MEMBER of the

I can only guess you are thinking of the big block Briggs. Have you looked at the bandolero motors....it's hard to beat the price, and your current clutch should work just fine.

I put a 40 horse Kohler in mine, and there were a lot of mods needed. One of the big ones is the cooling. You will not be able to keep the rear cover on or your motor will over heat. MaxII's have a hard enough time with a 23 horse.

I might be thinking big. I just want to do some up grades. I thought a big power plant would be fun to play with. I do not want to over heat! I just want to throw mud 30' in the air! A. 23 horse might be the way to go. I have an 18 horse now it runs great.

I will second what Jim said. The bandelaro engine is hard to beat. If your Max came with a Vanguard, it is basically a drop in mod. I have one in my wife's max II running through the stock exhaust and clutches. the machine is scary fast and has more power than she will ever need. I didn't do anything additional for cooling, and it has never been an issueA well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
