  • Need help with Max IV

Just changed bearings, chains and rear sprockets. Looks loke everything is lined up. When test driving there is a noise like a card rubbing on a bicycle spoke when you turn/apply pressure to either direction. Don't know which direction to go in.

It is a 97 with bolt through sprocket and axle

    Thanks in advance

That sounds like it could just be the band chatter that you are hearing from the transmission. If so, it should only make that noise as the brake bands begin to wrap around the drums. In other words, when you start to brake one side, that is when the noise will occur but once that side has the brake fully engaged around the drum and it has completely stopped turning, the noise should be gone. If that is what you are hearing, that is normal and not hurting anything. Search the site for band chatter if it bothers you and you want to reduce it.

Mike. The thing that was bothering me was that the noise was not there before the overhaul. Would that be normal

Did you change the fluid? What did you use? Try adding an ounce of limited slip additive.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

Have not changed the fluid but will do tomorrow. Hope that will fix the noise. Do you think the noise was always there and could not hear due to all the slack
