  • Chain for MaxIv & Bearings

Please give me feedback on chain and bearings. My max has splined shafts and was built in the early 2000s.
I counted the pins or links and came up with 580 pins so I requested a quote on 590 links of 580 x 110 Heavy Duty Gold Street Bike / Motorcycle chain. Plus 14 master links. They sent me a P.O. for $265.00 Is this the correct chain and a fare price?

My second question was one I posted before. What bearings do I buy for the axles. A reader wrote back.
    206 20- R3 triple seal 62 mm
    207-20-R3 triple seal 72mm
I put a Caliper on the axels and came up with numbers that were far less. Is the measurement taken some how differently?

Was the chain you were looking at a name brand? Was it O-ring #530, or std. #50? The price seems way high for #50, but not so much for the O-ring in Tsubaki........
The best deals I've seen on chain is on Ebay, but you have to look around. Avoid cheap chain, and the #530 O-ring is even stronger than good #50. Stronger=longer lasting.

The bearings are mis-allignment bearings, They have a rounded outer so the mount does not have to be perfectly alligned. The 62mm, or 72mm refers to this dimension, that is the 206 or 207 from the bearing #. The -20 refers to the shaft diameter(axle) of 20/16 of an inch, or 1 1/4"

Here is a good deal on INNER bearings SST 1 1 4" 1 25" Flange Bearing UCFL206 20 2 Bolt Flange Bearing New | eBay I bought 12 of these and the seller charged me for 10 (saved him on shipping)
DO NOT use them for the outer bearings as they are only single sealed. They also do not have the separate locking collar of the Max bearings. This collar also holds the axle in place.

Can I use a two bolt flange? Also should I buy the outers from Max? And what does the 110 mean on 530x110 chain? I used the caliper and see where the outer race numbers come from now.

      Thanks ever so much. Ted

To use the 2 bolt flange, you would have to drill new bolt holes. Just remove the bearing and use it in your existing flangettes.

The 110 on the chain is the number of links (pins).

          More bearing questions.

Who do you recommend I buy the outer bearings from? Should they be triple sealed? I need to replace everything. Some meth heads trashed the rig for scrap. The rig is in ten dozen peaces. But I could not have bought it otherwise. I am a vet. in a wheelchair, and this is going to be my legs. Metal hips and pelvis that are junk. Thanks Ted

            Buffalo Bearings Inc.

They know our machines and the bearings we need.
