  • Max VI Motor Mounts

    Hi All,

So while digging around in our Max VI trying to get the belt squeal to calm down a bit while going up big hills we noticed that where the motor "table" legs mount to the frame looks bent. But since there is no paint cracking or anything, both sides look the same, and nothing really seems too bent we wonder if all is good. Anyone know if the attached picture looks normal?

Picture attached. And yes, we removed the bolt, it hasn't gone for a walk.

Edit: Internet dropped when I hit submit, so I ended up doing a double post. If a mod would be so nice as to delete one of the threads it would be much appreciated by your truly.

Looks normal to me the bend is to get the mount parallel with the angle of the leg. I find belt noise to be quite common at very low speed. If you are getting a very loud squeel at heavy throttle, hold forward on the sticks. 23 hp and higher can slip the transmission bands in a IV. It's real loud and not good for it at all. Don't hesitate to pm me if you have other questions.

Thanks for the info. At first we thought uh-oh, but then started to wonder if that was how it should be. Figured it would be easiest to ask the board and use the massive resource of knowledge we have here before the welder came out and we did something we would only end up regretting.

The belt squeal happens under heavy load up hills, and we are sure it is the belt slipping on the primary clutch. The clutch doesn't seem to be closing quite enough to grab the belt at the far edge. Based on our combined snowmobile knowledge we figure jacking up the motor a tiny bit will both slow down the buggy (not a bad thing being we are on an exploration site) and have it grab better.

I usually shim engine to mount. The rubber mounts don't have much thread. If you slot washers they can be slipped under engine if bolts are long enough. 1/4 inch is usually all you can do and get the belt on. This does give a VI more low end. Good luck
