  • T-20/max

I just started to rebuild a max 1 /1970 #40 wheel drive chain and ABS tub
and I had to go get a max 11 1976 so now i am working on two.

Yes I am hook on 6x6 toys now and like all the info on 6x6 world.

Ok now I was look at my t-20 tran and was thinking if I spilt the forw/rev
shifter into two handals I can turn with power forwards and backwards
has this been done, can it used like this or will it work or is a brake turn all that can be done

Hi James, there are several people that have split the shifter like you mention. There is nothing wrong with doing that and it really could help you out in some tight situations.

One thing that you may want to consider is still having a way to interlock the individual shifters together. That way you would just have to shift one lever from forward to reverse but you could shift both independently if needed.

Kinda like turning brakes on a tractor. Hope that made sense

      James,

I know that when people have done this in the past without reinforcing the mounting points they had problems with the t - 20 coming loose and even breaking the mounts. The solution was to reinforce the mounting points and boxing in the trans. If you decide to do this please take a bunch of pictures to document the mod.

          Thanks all good

          1.Make one handel with interlock.
          2.Reinforce the mounting points T-20
3.The split shift looks easyer than what I was thinking
but does the same thing. I will the split and tube but make one handel

          I will shoot fabrication pic

Thanks for all input I am going to 6 wheel in and out of trees
and in some spot turning on a dime is needed

          thanks James
