  • Max Vs. Polaris Ranger

    Hey guys,

Met up with the Polaris Ranger and his buddies with the monster quads again. They were stuck in the same spot again!. I was able to pull the guy out. I also rode right through were he was stuck. I told him my lawnmower engine had pulled him to freedom. The 18hp was stressed, but worked.

I told the guys, I was heading to the creek so the kids could swim. They decided to tag along. Funny, I had to keep stopping to wait on them I figured they would be right on my assets.

I finally made it to the creek to discover the Ranger was to wide to make it through the trees, and the terrain was too much for him. One quad met the same fate with 31 Outlaws and wheel spacers. Awe! He couldn't fit between the trees

Just two of the monster quads made it and did cross the creek. When they left and climbed back to the bank, those Outlaws really tore the hell out of the bank. I shook my head and climbed up the bank, with no tire spin.

I thought about buying a quad recently, but the more I see the less I like. I thought the Ranger was cool, but its too bulky and wide. Hey! this is almost like Goldielocks and the Three Bears... My Max IV is just right......

BTW: I did find a guy in town with an older Max IV w/ 22 inch new tires and 16 HP. We rode this past weekend. He got stuck several times due to ground clearance issues. I'm glad I got the 27's

    Happy Trails,

Sorry Mudbug, I thought I was Dan for a minute. I have the stock 26" Super Terra Grip.

When they wear out, I would like to switch up to a 27". Isn't Dan (MightyMaxIV) running 27" Vampires?

Anyway, the extra ground clearance made ALL the difference in the world. My waterspeed was alot more too!

Sorry for the missprint. Wishful thinking.

Dan is running 26 inch Vampires and 27 inch Swamp Fox Plus tires on his Max IV .
The Vampires run 26 inches tall at 3 psi , and Dan told me the Swamp Fox Plus tires need a little over 6 psi to run 27 inches tall .

I was just researching what he was running. 6 psi is alot! The Goodyears are backbreakers. I run 2 psi.

Yes , I agree with you , but Dan rides mainly in the swamps , so higher psi gives him better floatation . He told me the lower psi gives a better ride and also traction , but the higher psi gives more floatation and slings the mud off better . It all depends on how and where you ride I guess. Lee has an Argo Frontier that has 25 inch Mud Bugs on it , and he runs his tires at 5 psi , but he rides his 6x6 slow like I do .

Well as I ride wiith my friends who have quads, mules and the like I have found out one thing for sure. We together can get to places that either of us can not get to alone. We are always choose who go through what first and we seldom have any attitudes.
Now having said that, we all still think we have the best machine. And I am no different. I love pulling out quads, and I get humbled when one has to pull me out. All is fair ball, but we certainly love getting out there to challege each other.
We even surprise ourselves and each other........WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
