Well after getting home yesterday, my stepson and I started to tear into the max , pulled the old techumsi and engine mount , pulled the seats , cut off the 1 chain that was still on it , turns out it does have inner bearings, everything is SO rusted though , were gonna try and pull the axles soon , pull the frame and de rust it . got to pull the trans and open it up for inspection ( kinda worried what I might find ) gonna try and get the techumsi running for power in the mean time.
This Max has no brakes on it other than the laterals, so I was looking at adding brakes to it, on the center axles , the sprocket tube have 3 sprockets on them, I assume only 2 of which are used ( dont know because there were no chains on that part of the drive ) so my thought is , can I build a pair of jackshafts with gokart style disk brakes driven off the extra sprocket ? with a smaller sprocket on the disk side the brakes should have good power. has anyone else done this ?? Alot eaiser to copy someone instead of being the guinie pig !!
also the right rear axle has quite a bit of play as for the sprocket tube bolt to axle ( in other words I can rotate the sprocket back and forth with out turning the axle. ) so can I assume that axle will have to be replaced, or is there a fix ?
Thanks,
Scott
